Murray River Rally – Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

• “Event” means the Murray River Rally organised by Murray River Rally, ABN 68076902972.

• “Participant” means any person registered to take part in the Event.

• “Organiser” means Murray River Rally and its directors, staff, contractors, and volunteers.

• “Boat” means any vessel entered by the Participant for use in the Event.

2. Eligibility

• All Participants must be aged 18 years or older. Minors (under 18) may attend only with the consent and supervision of a parent/guardian.

• All boats must comply with NSW/VIC marine safety regulations, and be registered and insured against 3rd party damage with a suitable marine insurer.

• The Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to any Participant or boat without explanation.

3. Participation & Conduct

• This is a recreational rally, not a race. Speed limits and waterway rules must be observed at all times.

• Participants must comply with all laws governing alcohol and drug use, including those relating to vessel operation.

• Lifejackets/PFDs must be worn as required by law.

• Participants must follow all instructions given by the Organiser and waterway authorities.

4. Risk Acknowledgement & Liability

• Participation is at the Participant’s own risk.

• The Organiser does not accept responsibility for:

  • loss, theft, or damage to any property,

  • injury, illness, or death arising out of participation in the Event, except where required by law.

• Participants acknowledge the inherent risks of boating and water-based activities, including but not limited to collision, capsizing, equipment failure, and environmental hazards.

• Each Participant releases the Organiser, sponsors, and partners from any claims, except where liability cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

5. Insurance

• Participants must hold valid marine insurance—including a minimum of third-party liability cover—from a recognised marine insurer, and submit proof of that insurance to Murray River Rally before participating in the rally.

6. Registration, Fees & Refunds

• A deposit is required at the time of registration, with final payment due no later than one month prior to the Event.

• Entry is not confirmed until payment has been received in full.

• Cancellations:

  • If a Participant cancels at least 30 days before the event start date, they will receive a refund of all fees paid less a $50 administration fee.

  • Cancellations made within 30 days of the event start date are not eligible for any refund.

7. Safety & Compliance

• Participants are responsible for ensuring their boat is seaworthy and complies with all legal requirements.

• The Organiser reserves the right to exclude any boat deemed unsafe or unsuitable.

• Alcohol consumption on the water is subject to the same laws as drink driving.

8. Media & Promotion

• By entering, Participants grant the Organiser permission to use photographs, video, and other media of the Event for promotional and marketing purposes, without compensation.

9. Indemnity

• The Participant agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified the Organiser against any claim, loss, damage, liability, or expense arising from their participation, except to the extent caused by the Organiser’s negligence.

10. Governing Law

• These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia, and Participants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in those states.
